About Planting Joy Gardens
I’ve been gardening since childhood, but necessity has required me to grow food in my ornamental garden. I’m gardening in suburban Illinois in zone 5B/6A, and I generally have 167 frost free days per year. Join me as I convert my ornamental garden into a beautiful kitchen garden the easy way. I used raised beds and containers to grow a lot of food in a small space right outside my back door.
A kitchen garden can combine ornamental plants with food production without requiring the removal of the entire yard. Follow my progress from seed to harvest as we learn and grow joy in the garden together.
